Tissues, Boogies and Coughs
The whole household is sick with colds. Everyone is crabby because no one is getting any sleep and I really wish that I didn't have to go to work tomorrow. Although there is only 2 weeks left until winter break :^) YIPPEE! I just hope that everyone is feeling better by the holidays. This week I want to do some crafting. I am borrowing an idea from another crafter. That is all I am saying about it until then. Don't worry I'll be back before you know it. Happy 2nd week of December!

A hard good-bye...
If cats only had nine lives... It was about nine months ago when our nine year old cat Onyx disappeared under the bed. Literally she was almost invisible, we never saw her come out to eat or use the box. We would check on her and make sure she was still alive but in the beginning we didn't really think too much about her new behavior. After a couple of months when we noticed her getting thinner we took her to the vet. According to him she was dehydrated and if we wanted further care we were going to have to have an ultrasound. There was no way that I could afford this. So I hoped for the best. I watched as I thought that she was getting better, but in the last few weeks she began looking thinner and it was becoming harder to take care of her. We took her in last Sunday. She was 3 lbs. losing her fur and had complete kidney failure. She was a good cat. The first that I had chosen, named and called my own. We will miss her very much. Thanks for nine years of love and keeping my head warm at night. We love you Onyx!
The picture was taken long before she was sick :)

A Thanksgiving Full Moon!
This year Thanksgiving was full of fun and giggles. Alayna was having so much fun that she forgot to use the bathroom and ended up having a potty accident. Of course it was on the one day when we would forget to bring a change of clothes. So she had to wear her skirt commando. I know it isn't very lady like, but hey what were we supposed to do. It got really funny when in the middle of all the fun her skirt was falling down and...well...she really is a lady but tonight there was a full moon. See for yourself below :^)

Sometimes you feel like a nut...
Last night Alayna made up a new game. It isn't anything spectacular, but it does support learning. So here is how the game works. First, you pick a category (see the learning part) then you toss a ball back and forth each time naming something in the given category. So here is how it went
Category :Nuts
Alayna: peanuts
Daddy: cashews
Alayna: "Cat's don't wear shoes"
Mommy: giggles
Daddy: ok, walnuts
Alayna: "Wal-Mart?"
Mommy: More giggles
I found this to be so hilarious. Of course when you actually hear how she said it and if you could have seen her face it makes it much funnier, but non the less I am still laughing about it today. This is definitely one for the baby book.

Bread and Butter
I am almost through posting about Halloween...Okay not really but here is my latest thing to share. Kevin and I have not been to a Halloween party in years and of course the first question is always what will I go as. It was easy for Kevin. His friends nickname for him is white bread and well that is what he decided to go as. I didn't take him seriously when he said I should go as butter, but the more I thought about it the more I liked the idea. The costumes were super simple to make. Kevin found his shirt on Ebay and he cut his bread mask from a piece of foam and glued some brown suede around the edges for the crust. All I used for mine was half of a dollar store laundry basket, a Frisbee for the hat and I used my glue gun to glue some yellow felt on. Kevin created my butter sign in photoshop then we printed it on fabric sticker. I think we look awesome!
I would feel awful if I left everyone else out so here are just some of the other ghosts and ghouls who were at the party.

Can you say BOO!
Last year I discovered BOO at the ZOO trick or treating. It is now our Halloween family tradition. Alayna loves it, she gets to see animals, get treats and ride the carousel. Kevin and I love it too. This year King Soopers was sponsoring and they gave out free loaves of bread. Last year they gave us 10 reusable grocery bags from Sunflower market. All I know is I don't argue with FREE! The reptile room is always open and there are all kinds of animals that they let you pet. This year I was the brave one and I touched a millipede and a pine cone skink. I am so proud of myself.

Good-bye M&M's, Hello Weather!
This year my second grade team and I said good-by to our three year m&m run and decided that we would be "weather girls" for Halloween this year. The costumes were super simple and extra cute. I was so lucky to find black visors for a dollar at Target to use to make our crowns. A little felt and glue, some glitter (to add fun and glam) and my favorite new toy "cricut". Thanks Mom!
I love being crafty!!!
